I chose this topic because it seems to me especially relevant now because all the youth of the world are fighting for the realization of human rights. The topic of the discussion is closely connected with it.

The question about whether physician-assisted suicide should be legalized remains the issue of the day. People are in two minds whether a dying patient has the right to die with the assistance of a physician or not. In my opinion, physician-assisted suicide should be legal and there are three points to support my point of view.
First of all, I strongly believe that mentally competent people who have serious illnesses and have no chance of long-term survival should have the right willingly to die. Some diseases in the last stages of its development are not treatable, such as cancer or leukemia. People are in terrible agony day by day, and I am convinced that everyone should have the right to end their suffering. As an example, I'd like to refer to the case of Marijke Veld, who had a terminal lung disease. I think nobody wants to be unnecessarily kept alive against her/his own will.
Secondly, the cost of treating and staying in a hospital or hospice may be exorbitant for the patient's family. When a terminal patient passes away, the family has to struggle with a huge bill and it often leads to financial ruin. If terminal patients make an informed decision for assisted suicide, they can ease their families’ financial drags as well as their suffering.
The last but not the least point is I am sure that control over one's own destiny is an inherent right of any person. It is liberty that cannot be denied because those who are dying might want to use this liberty as a way to stop their suffering. They will not be seen as people who are waiting to die but as individuals making one final active choice in their lives.
To conclude, physician-assisted suicide should definitely be legalized as it is an inherent right of human beings to take on their own lives. Every person should have an opportunity to pass away with dignity,  without ruining their loved-ones much needed.
